ARNOLD MOORE & NEEKAMP FUNERAL HOME, BARTLESVILLE, OK (918) 336-5225 - Joseph Wallace May, age 82 and resident of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, passed away on Monday, January 23, 2017, at his home. Joseph Wallace "Wally" May was born on January 16, 1935 in Bartlesville. He was the son of Carl F. May and Jessie Lena Pearl (Chastain) May. He was a life-long resident of Bartlesville where he received his education, graduating from College High School in 1953. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Reserve (1957-63). He was united in marriage in 1957 to Marilyn Kennedy and two children were born to this union, Tjuana and Jon. Marilyn preceded Wally in death. In 1993, he married Donna Elam and she, also, preceded him in death. Wally was an Aviation Mechanic, working for Ed's Aircraft Service in Bartlesville from 1962-74, and then becoming employed with Phillips Petroleum Company in 1974 until his retirement in 1997. He was a member of Virginia Avenue Baptist Church. In his early years, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also collected coins and knives and was an avid OU fan. In his later years, he enjoyed woodworking. He loved all animals, but especially his dogs, Bo and Barney. Survivors include his children, Tjuana Brooks of Bartlesville, and Jon May and his wife, Carla, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; sisters, Eunita Maples of Bartlesville, and Anita Penney of Huntsville, Alabama; brother, Robert K. "Bob" Robinson and his wife, Mary, of Bartlesville; two grandchildren, Taylor Kathleen Brooks of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Tanner Christian Brooks of Norman, Oklahoma. His dogs, Bo and Barney also survive him. Remembrances may be made in Wally's memory to the Washington County ASPCA, 16620 State Highway 123, Bartlesville, OK 74006. A memorial service in celebration of Wally's life will be held on Saturday, February 4, at 2:00 PM in the Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Home, 710 S. Dewey Ave., Bartlesville. Rev. Steven Griffith will be the officiant. Honorary pallbearers are Roscoe Tweedy (Bartlesville), Ron Enslinger (Oklahoma City), Edward Beers (Copan, Oklahoma), Gerald S. Cox (Bartlesville), Carl L. Brooks, Jr. (Richmond, Texas), and Tanner C. Brooks (Norman, Oklahoma). Mr. May's cremains will later be placed alongside his beloved wife, Marilyn, at Memorial Park Cemetery in Bartlesville.
