Joseph (Joe) Merrill Schlosser, age 88, passed away at the Veterans Center in Claremore, Oklahoma, on Sunday, April 8, 2007. Joe was born April 22, 1918 in Celina, Ohio and was a resident of Vinita for forty-eight years. He was preceded in death by his wife Delores (Dee) Schlosser of 61 years on November 30, 2002, his parents Lothar and Helena Schlosser of Celina, Ohio and one sister, Marcie Schlosser Kolp of Van Wert, Ohio. Mr. Schlosser attended Business College in Alliance, Ohio, and served in the United States Army Air Corp in World War II as a member of the Army Air Corp Band. After the war, he was employed by Mersman Brothers Corporation as a sales representative for over 35 years. Upon his retirement, Joe was an avid Amateur Radio operator and a volunteer for the Navy-Marine Corps Military Affiliate Radio System. One of his loves was music, and for many years he was the music director at the Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Vinita. Throughout his life he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather to his family. Survivors include his sons, Mike Schlosser and wife Polly of Plano, Texas, and John Schlosser and wife Jo Ann of Vinita; a daughter, Mary Joan (Jodie) Keener of Rougemont, North Carolina; grandsons, John C. Schlosser of Rowlett, Texas, Parke J. Keener, of Houston, Texas; granddaughters, Michelle Ironside of Vinita, and Stephanie Downey of Vinita; great-grandsons Jack Ethan Schlosser and Collin Joseph Schlosser of Rowlett, Texas, and Kyle Downey of Vinita; two brothers, Richard Schlosser of Houston, Texas, and William Schlosser of Celina, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. The Rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friday, April 13, 2007 in the Luginbuel Chapel. The Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, 10:00 a.m. April, 14, 2007 at the Holy Ghost Catholic Church, with Father Alex Kennedy officiating. Interment will follow at the Fairview Cemetery in Vinita.
