Josephine (Nagel) Gottsponer, age 93 of Vinita, died Friday May 22, 2009 at the Craig General Hospital. Josephine was born in Perry, Arkansas March 17, 1916 the daughter of Nicholas and Anna (Blount) Nagel. On October 14, 1934 she was united in marriage to Albert Gottsponer at St. Elizabeth Church in Arkansas. They raised four children, making their home in Vinita in 1952. She was a member of the Catholic Women's Group for many years, and was also a member of the Holy Ghost Catholic Church. Her hobbies included sewing, crocheting, knitting, quilting, and making braided rugs. She even made her children's clothes. Josephine owned and operated the cafeteria of Munsingware for several years in the early sixties. She then went to work in the dietary department of Craig General Hospital where she served as the day-shift cook until she retired. While working there she attended N.E.O and earned a Dietary Supervisory certificate. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Albert, daughter Rita Hoyt, and two sisters Anna Marie Nahlen, and Margaret Rath. Survivors include her three children Harold Gottsponer of Vinita, Edward Gottsponer and wife Doris of Vinita, and her daughter Anna Greenwalt and husband Richard of Tulsa; three sisters Elizabeth Lannie of Center Ridge, Arkansas, Rosemary Ruff or Morrilton, Arkansas, Isabelle Milam of Greenbrier, Arkansas; 16 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 14 great-great grandchildren. The rosary will be 6:00 p.m. Thursday May 28, 2009 at the Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel. The Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday May 29, 2009 at Holy Ghost Catholic Church with Father Alex Kennedy officiating. Internment will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
