BENJAMIN FUNERAL SERVICE NOWATA, OKLAHOMA 918-273-2700..................Joyce Helen (Alexander ) Chitwood passed away Saturday, February 23, 2019, surrounded with love and after a long har-fought battle with cancer. Joyce was born on January 30, 1968, in Nowata, OK, to Mary E. (Greene) and Rev. Charles M. Alexander, the fourth of five children.
Joyce attended grade schools in Tulsa and Barnsdall, OK. She was a 1986 Graduate of Barnsdall High School. She worked as a photographer assistant after graduating. Later she owned & operated a home based day care. She devoted her whole being in raising her children as they are "God's Greatest Gifts." Joyce was compassionate and caring with everyone she met. After undergoing bone marrow transplant she would share her experiences, and encourage anyone with debilitating health issues to never give up & fight with everything you possess. She has spent the last several years on YouTube & Instagram sharing tips & product reviews to encourage those who followed her. She acquired a substantial following due to her compassion & passion. Joyce loved animals, especially dogs, she thought of them as not friends but family.
Joyce is survived by her three sons Cody, Zachery, & Joshua, all of Stillwater. All of whom cherished & cared for their Momma. Three brothers Charles David Alexander and wife Laura of Goodyear, AZ., John P. Alexander Sr. and wife Janette of Nowata, William (Bill) Alexander and fiance' Emily Michelle Halford of Bartlesville, OK, and one sister Candace (Candy) Fiedler and husband Curtis of Nowata, one niece Teko Henershott & family, John Alexander and family, Joe Alexander & family, Don (Alex) Blanchard, Christopher Clemons & family; Chase, Kaden, and Will Alexander. Four Great nieces and three Great nephews, along with many cousins and close special friends. If you met Joyce she considered you her friend.
A private memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2019. In Lieu of flowers the family request donations to the American Cancer Society, the Stillwater Animal Welfare or Humane Society.
