Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home - Grove, Oklahoma 918-786-2261. Joyce Mae Gibson passed away June 17, 2016 after a sudden illness. Joyce was born August 20, 1944 in rural Delaware County, 6 miles south of Grove. She was the daughter of Edmond H. and Frances H. (Bound) Gibson. Joyce graduated from Grove High School in 1962. She was employed by Fowler's Drug Store for several years and began working in the family business, Gibson Photo Studio, in 1965. She took over the operation of the studio when her father retired in 1971. Joyce continued the family business of traditional photography as well as continuing to record important places and events around the area. In 2002 Joyce published "Historic Sailboat Bridge", using the photographs her father took during the construction of the original Sailboat Bridge, and photographs she took during the construction of the new Sailboat Bridge. She also wrote a newspaper column for several years about local history. Joyce was a precinct worker for the Delaware County Election Board for over 40 years. She also was a volunteer with the Miss Grand Lake Pageant from the earliest years (almost 45 years), as the official photographer, as well as other volunteer duties with the pageant, including serving as a member of the Board of Directors, and was an organizing member of the Cowskin Prairie Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Harlan Val Gibson and Charles Edmond Gibson. She is survived by two sisters, Jean (Gibson) Bohannan, Helen (Gibson) Bergman and brother-in-law Charles Bergman, and sister-in-law Janice Gibson; nephews and nieces: Jerry E & Theresa Bohannan, James "Gus" & Kathy Bohannan, Neil Bergman, Janet (Bohannan) & Chris Weatherred, Patricia Bergman Dillinger, Malinda (Gibson) & Damon Boston, Kara (Gibson) & David Collins, SueAnna & Jason Miller and many great and great, great nieces and nephews. Memorial service will be held Saturday, July 30, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove, OK.
