Juanita Ellis

Luginbuel Funeral Home of Vinita, 918-256-5555 Juanita Faye Ellis, 78 year old long time rural Afton resident, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at her home. She was born on November 7, 1936 in Kiowa, Kansas to Lloyd and Nina (Parker) Medlam. Juanita graduated from Wichita West High School in 1954. She married Bob Ellis on March 6, 1955 in Wichita, they were married over 59 ½ years. They also lived Lawrence, Kansas before moving to Red Arrow Resort in Cleora in 1967, then built a new home in Duck Creek, then in 1974 moved to their ranch in Craig County where they ran the L-S Cattle Company. She had worked at Carter's Department Store Clothing Department, Buffalo Ranch Trading Post, the Glass House Gift Shop, and Home of Hope as a caretaker for Mary & Deeley. Juanita survived pneumonia during the Dust Bowl as a baby. She was an active member of the Cleora Baptist Church for 46 years, she taught Sunday School for 30 years and led many children to Jesus. The family includes; husband Bob of the home; son, James Robert "Jim" Ellis and wife Gaylene of Afton; daughters, Susan Davenport and husband Ferris of Vinita, Beth Williams and husband Clayton of Kansas, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Donnie and Dennie Peters, Greg, Stephen, Jonathan Williams, George Davenport; great-grandchildren, Lance Peters and Madison Peters. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Lloyd Medlam, Jr. and James Medlam, and her parents. The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM on Sunday, December 14, 2014 at the Luginbuel Funeral Home of Vinita. The funeral service will be held on Monday, December 15, 2014 at 1:00 PM at the Cleora Baptist Church, with Pastors James Duffell, Marty Joplin and David Pifer officiating.
