Juanita May "Pat" Snelson, age 81 and resident of Wann, Oklahoma, passed away at her home on Saturday, July 11, 2015. Juanita May "Pat" Rhodes was born on March 30, 1934 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Edwin W. Rhodes and Bertha (Rush) Rhodes. Her early years were spent in Okmulgee. After the death of her mother, Pat was raised in the home of her brother, F. E. Rhodes and his wife, Marjorie. Throughout her lifetime, Pat was deeply grateful to Bud (F.E.) and mother (Marjorie) for her early years. During her teen years, Pat lived in Oakland, California where she spent her junior and senior high school days. She graduated from Oakland High School with the Class of 1952. On May 7, 1982, Pat and Joe Wesley Snelson were united in marriage in Wann where they made their home. Pat was employed with S.H. Kress and J.C. Penny in Bartlesville, and also with Western Publishing Company in Coffeyville, Kansas. She was a member of the Wann Methodist Church; a Lioness in the Lions Club; and the Extension Homemakers of Wann. Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Bertha Rhodes; and Bud (F.E.) and mother (Marjorie). She is survived by her husband, Joe Wesley Snelson of the family home; sons, Marc Edwin Shelton and partner, Carla Herring, of Coffeyville, Kansas, Bob Shelton and his wife, Arneda, of Olathe, Kansas, and David L. Shelton and his wife, Louanne, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren, Michael Shelton, Jeffery Shelton, Derek Shelton, Acacia Shelton and Erin, Seth, Molly and Megan, and Brianna Jones; and 10 great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Pat's memory be made to Copan Methodist Church. Visitation with family will be held on Tuesday evening from 6-8:00 PM in the Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Home, 710 S. Dewey Ave. A service will be held on July 15, at 11:00 AM in the Copan Methodist Church in Copan, Oklahoma. Pastor Warren Peck will be the officiant. Interment will follow the service in Fairview Cemetery, Coffeyville, Kansas.
