Julia Dyer

May 16, 1924 — January 19, 2014

Julia M. Dyer, 89, of Delaware passed away at Jane Phillips Nowata Health Center, Sunday, January 19, 2014 with her family at her side. She was born May 16, 1924, in Barnsdall, Oklahoma to William and Katherine (Schreffler) Downey. She attended and graduated from Barnsdall High School and in 1944 she married James Everett Dyer in Long Beach, California. They made their home there until moving to Delaware in 1995. Julia was a very loving kind person that loved caring for others. Her husband, children and family were very dear to her and 5 children learned what the love of a mother was. She had a wonderful sense of humor and it was said she was a survivor of her children's pranks. She was also a Den Leader for a Cub Scout group which also took a strong loving person of children to accomplish. When not caring for her family Julia loved to read, listen to music, and write poetry. She has a collection of many of her poems that the family loves to read and will be able to remember her forever. Above all in her life, her love of Jesus was instilled deep in her heart. She loved serving Jesus and volunteering at the Childers Community Church. She loved talking to people about Jesus and making sure that she could reach as many people as she could to lead to the Lord. She will hold a special place in Heaven and will be missed by all who knew her. Preceding Mrs. Dyer in death are her parents, William and Katherine Downey; her husband James Dyer; two children, Michael and Susan Dyer; and two sisters, Annaloy Dixon, and Evelyn Arning. Survivors include four sons, James Dyer and wife Linda, of Childers, William Dyer and wife Elizabeth, of Santa Cruz, California, Robert Dyer and wife Sally, of Riverside, California, Don Dyer, of Childers; ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; many other relatives and a host of friends and church family.
