Julia Elizabeth (Galvin) Haynes, age 64, a resident of Tulsa, OK died Monday May 12, 2008 at Clarehouse in Tulsa. Julia was born August 12, 1943 in Vinita, OK the daughter of Raymond Anthony Galvin Sr. and Lucy May "Big Knife" Galvin. After graduating the Sacred Heart Academy she attended the Draughn School of Business in Tulsa, NEO A&M in Miami and graduating Administrators School OCCE, O.U. Norman, OK. Julia was a licensed Nursing Home Administrator, licensed in Oklahoma, Kansas and Georgia. She worked for Autumn Homes three facilities in Tulsa, OK, Winfield, KS and Del Mar Gardens in Atlanta, GA. She was the operator of the first assisted living center in Tulsa, Southern Hills. Julia was active in her field, serving as secretary - treasure, Vice President and President of the Tulsa Metropolitan Nursing Home Association. She held the office of Vice President of the OK chapter of the American College of Long Term Care Administrators. Julia volunteered for the American Indian Arts Council (chairwoman of the Juried Art Division) and the American Cancer Society. She was a charter member of the Vinita Arts and Humanities Council. While in high school she and her sisters, Judy and Edwina formed a trio (The Three G's) and sang for Church, School functions and Vinita Teen Town. She was an avid traveler and one of her favorite trips was to China, and was best known for her love and generosity for family and friends. Julia came from a large family; she is preceded in death by her parents, three brothers Samuel, Stephen and Raymond Galvin Jr., two sisters Loretta Essex and Mary Howard. Survivors include her husband Winfred Eugene "Gene" Haynes of the home, five sisters, Stella Blondin of Fayetteville, NC, Lucy & John Shackelford of Tulsa, OK, Judy Simmons of Denver, Co, Edwina & Jim Hoskin of Cleora, OK, Josie & Tim Driskill of Tulsa, OK, one brother, Paul Galvin of Vinita, OK , stepsons, Kenny & Brenda Haynes, Mark & Christy Haynes Steve & April Haynes and Terry Haynes from the Phoenix, AZ area, one step grand daughter, Kaelyn Haynes, five step grandsons, Tucker, Seth, Issac, Sam and Eli Haynes and many nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held Friday May 16, 2008 at Holy Ghost Catholic Church with The Reverend Greg Elliott officiating. Memorials in Julia's name have been established with Clarehouse Tulsa.
