Junior Sam Fencer, 71, of Colcord, Oklahoma died at his home at 3:21 a.m., Wednesday, January 21, 2009 after a tough battle with cancer. Junior was born May 13, 1937 in Mayes County, Oklahoma to Stanley and Vennie (Ketcher) Fencer. He attended Locust Grove High School. He was a member of Long Prairie Baptist Church in Kansas, Oklahoma. Junior was an outdoorsman who loved hunting, especially for deer, fishing, horseback riding, and feeding his horses and cattle. He also enjoyed spending time at the casinos. But he was proudest of his kids and grandkids who he enjoyed spending time with as well as his family and friends. Junior is survived by four sons, Tony and Velva Fencer of Locust Grove, OK, Samuel Byrd, Christian Fencer and Jamie Byrd all of Grove, OK; four daughters, Kathy and Randy Rhodes of Peggs, OK, Christine Nott of Tulsa, OK, Pamela Fencer Smith and her special friend Todd Lee of Pryor, OK, and Jennifer Byrd of Grove, OK; one sister, Emma Cornshucker of Oklahoma; 10 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends at Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Jay from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 22, 2009. A funeral service for Junior Fencer will be at 2:00 p.m., on Friday, January 23, 2009 at New Green Baptist Church, Twin Oaks, OK with Rev. Fox Blackfox and Rev. Jess Glass officiating. Burial will follow at Ballou Cemetery, south of Locust Grove, OK. Pallbearers will be Tyler Nott, Ivan Foreman, J.D. Blackfox, Gary Stilley, Walker Jr. Cochran, and Todd Lee. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jerry Cochran and James Byrd. Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home of Jay, Oklahoma is in charge of arrangements.
