Justin Barton "J.B." Haase, 89-year-old Bartlesville resident, passed away Thursday, June 4, 2009 at the Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville. Mr. Haase was born January 5, 1920 in Ramona, Oklahoma to Gus Haase and Mary Hook-Haase. Mr. Haase attended schools in Ochelata and graduated with the Class of 1938. After high school, Mr. Haase broke and rode horses for a rodeo show. Later, he went on to serve his country in the United States Army Air Corps. Mr. Haase served as a Belly Gunner aboard a B-24 Bomber during WWII. He was honorably discharged from the service on September 8, 1945 and on October 27, 1945 Mr. Haase married Minnie V. Hammer in Bartlesville. Mr. Haase worked for the Bureau of Mines as a draftsman from 1951-1960. He then turned to cattle ranching full-time and continued until he retired in 2000. Mr. Haase was a member of the American Legion. He also enjoyed countless hours doing woodwork and making furniture. Mr. Haase is survived by a daughter, Beverly Featherston and her husband Jack of Bartlesville; by a son, Jay F. Haase of Okmulgee; by two granddaughters, Christy Sroufe and her husband Hop of Bartlesville and Molly Soles and her husband James of Caney, Kansas; by two great-grandchildren, Ryker Dane Sroufe of Bartlesville and Brant Taylor Soles of Caney. He was preceded in death by his wife Minnie; by two sisters, Lily Perrier and Mabel Haase; and by a brother, Forrest Haase. Funeral services will be held at 10:00am, Monday, June 8, 2009 in the Neekamp-Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ralph Dershem officiating. Interment will follow in the Ramona Cemetery.
