Tulsa, OK - Katherine Adams Klein, 100, died Wednesday, October 10, 2007 at Treemont Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Dallas, Texas. Katherine was born January 13, 1907 in Craig County, Oklahoma to W.H. Thomas and May L. (Hawkins) Thomas. She grew up in Craig County and received her Masters Degree in Education from Northeastern State University. Katherine taught a total of 44 years, before retiring in 1972. She taught in Vinita and rural schools in Craig County, including White Oak, Ketchum, Welch, Ironside, Prairie Chapel and Eureka. Katherine moved to Tulsa in 1955 at finished her teaching career at Walter Reed Elementary. Katherine married Albert Klein on May 12, 1987 at Tulsa. Mr. Klein preceded his wife in death. She was a member of Rogers Heights Christian Church in Tulsa; the Oklahoma Retired Teachers Association; the Oklahoma Education Association; Christian Womens Fellowship; and the Gilcrease Toastmasters Club from 1982-87. Survivors are a daughter-in-law, Virginia Hemphill of Tulsa; one granddaughter, Pamela Bennett and her husband, Gene of Carrollton, Texas; two great-granddaughters, Emmie Bennett of Lubbock, Texas and Elena Bennett of Carrollton, Texas; two nieces, Stephanie Howard and her husband, Ed of Dallas, Texas and Billie Lou Thomas of Claremore, Oklahoma and five great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; by her husband; by a son, Ora Hemphill, Jr. in 1972; and by two brothers, Eugene and Sherman Thomas. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 13, 2007 at Rogers Heights Christian Church, 409 South Pittsburg, Tulsa. Interment will be in Floral Haven Cemetery in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma under the direction of Luginbuel Funeral Home of Vinita. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Friday at the funeral home and 9 a.m. until service time at the church, Saturday. Donations may be made to the Vinita Senior Citizens Center, or the American Heart Association, Tulsa, Chapter or the charity of one's choice. Donations may be left with the staff of Luginbuel Funeral Home.
