Katherine Mary (Dick) Leaf, 69 year old Chelsea resident, died Thursday, December 5, 2013 in Hawaii while visiting family. She was born August 16, 1944 to John and Ada Mae Dick. Katherine was a member of the First Baptist Church in Chelsea, she traveled many times to Falls Creek Church Camp to cook for the youth, and she also ran the church van to bring those without transportation to church. Katherine retired from Baker-Hughes in Claremore, where she had worked as a receiving clerk. She was a fabulous cook, her chicken and dumplings and Indian fry bread was the family favorite. Katherine loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, they were all very special to her. Preceding her in death were her parents, a sister Norma Jean Dick, two brothers, John Dick, Jr. and Billy Joe Dick. The family includes: her children, Willie Shawnee and wife Dorothy of Foyil, Mike Leaf of Chelsea, Tammy Leaf of Chelsea; siblings, Marvin Thomas of Chelsea, George Dick and wife Andra of Broken Arrow, Paul Dick and wife Rhonda of Quapaw, Julie Whitetree and husband Pete of Miami, Beverly Blalock of Chelsea; seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren; numerous other relatives and her church family. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening at the home in Chelsea, at 5750 S Gus Rd. The funeral service will be held Thursday December 19, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Chelsea, with Pastors, Gerald Biswell and Jay McAlister officiating. Indian rites and burial will follow at the Shawnee Cemetery, with Steve Daugherty conducting. Online condolences may be made at www.honoringmemories.com.
