Kathryn Altebaumer

Kathryn Jane (Gordon) Altebaumer, 98 year old Centralia area resident, passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at her home. She was born July 6, 1914 near Centralia, to Hayes Rutherford Gordon and Tilley Deana (Bolt) Gordon. Kathryn graduated from Centralia in 1932, and then graduated with a teaching degree from Northeastern State College in Tahlequah. She taught in many different Craig County Schools, retiring in 1977. Kathryn was married to Herman Joseph "Ham" Altebaumer in 1951 in Kansas, he preceded her in death. She was a member of the Holy Ghost Catholic Church of Vinita. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, having company over and made everyone feel welcome. The family includes: one son W. J. "Bill" Altebaumer, four grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren; two sisters in-law, Margaret Walls and Maggie Altebaumer; special niece, Judy Jo Gordon; numerous nieces, nephews; special friends and family include, Ethel Spaulding, Sue Johnson, Debbie and David Davenport. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ham Altebaumer, brothers, William and Earl Gordon, daughter in-law, Verna Altebaumer, great-granddaughter, Kaitlyn Singleton. The rosary will be held Thursday, March 14, 2013 at 7 p.m. at the Luginbuel Funeral Home in Vinita. The graveside service will be held Friday March 15, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at the Fairview Cemetery in Vinita, with Rev. Michael Cashen officiating.
