Heaven called for a new angel on Wednesday, February 9, 2011 as Kathy Sue McCaig was called to be with the Lord with her husband by her side. She was born to Mr. and Mrs. C.O. Stanley on December 21, 1949 in Ponca City, Oklahoma. Her love of life and her beautiful heart were a precious gift to the many lives she touched; she was a loving wife, momma, grandma, daughter, sister, aunt, teacher and friend. Memories of her smile, her sense of humor and her giving nature will serve as an inspiration to all who were lucky enough to know her and be loved by her. Kathy married the love of her life, Mike McCaig on April 11, 1969 after meeting at college at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah. They moved to Fort Smith together in 1977 and have since resided. She taught Special Education for 25 years in Fort Smith Schools and retired due to health reasons. She was a member of Grace Methodist Church and a volunteer at Brookfield Assisted Living Home for the past several years. Kathy was truly a compassionate soul and loved seeing life through the eyes of her family. She was preceded in death by her Mother and Step-Father, Waunita and Gene Fair as well as her Mother and Father-In-Law, Ivene and Richard McCaig. Survivors include her husband, Mike McCaig of Fort Smith, her son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Cari McCaig of Germantown, TN, her daughter and her daughters partner, Shannon McCaig and Chase Crawford of Fayetteville and her father and special mother, Coy and Dorothy Stanley of Vinita, Oklahoma. She was also survived by her grandchildren, Aaron and Walker McCaig and Jaylee Wood, her sister Pat Vernon and her husband Ronnie, her brother Steve Stanley and his wife Toni, her brother Tom Stanley and his wife Carla, her sister Karen Long and her husband John, her sister Sharon McCaig and all of her beautiful nieces and nephews.
