Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove, Oklahoma 918-786-2261 Kayla Mary Jean Geier-Mercer, 18, of Monkey Island, passed away on Sunday, September 25, 2016 in Cherokee County, Kansas. Kayla was born on January 8, 1998 in Grove, Oklahoma, she was the daughter of Kim Geier. Kayla attended Grove Public Schools where she graduated in May of 2016. Kayla was active in the Grove Marching band, she participated in the Grove Color Guard, where she served as co-captain her junior and senior year. Kayla was a member of Lake Center Baptist Church. She enjoyed attending church camp with her youth group, and was in the "strong women" contest at GLBA Camp where she was champion in 2014. Kayla was known for her loving, generous, kind heart. She was a free spirit; she always had a smile on her face, and loved to make people laugh. Kayla enjoyed spending time with friends, attending concerts, making French cookies with her Grandma and babysitting her nieces and nephews. Kayla had planned to attend NEO in the Spring semester. Kayla was preceded in death by her grandfather Ed "Tubby" Mercer, Sr. She is survived by her mother Kim Geier and grandmother Shirley Mercer of the home, Grandparents Don and Sherry Blair, her sister Dawn Paoni and her husband Chris, brother Ryan Geier, sister Meghan Dunning and her husband Leonard, sister Raemee Tollison and husband Joseph, sister Tiffany Geier, brother Chet Mercer, sister Lucretia Chapman and husband Taylor, several aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, and cousins. Her father, Eddie Mercer, Jr., followed her in death the next day. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6-8 PM, Thursday, September 29, 2016 at Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove, Oklahoma. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, September 30, 2016 at Lake Center Baptist Church with Brother Kim Hays officiating. Kayla will be laid to rest in Rolston Cemetery. Honoring Kayla's life serving as casket bearers will be Brian Blythe, Korey Nelson, Ryan Geier, Leonard Dunning, Chet Mercer, Joe Tollison, Josh Reyes and Tanner Linn. Honorary casket bearers will be Stephen Smith, Logan Sadd, Dylan Dyer, Tanner Pennel and Chris Paoni. Memorial donations can be made in Kayla's name at the Oklahoma State Bank on Monkey Island.
