Funeral services for Kellis Wayne Pierce are 10:00 A.M., Monday, January 26, 2015 at the First Baptist Church in Nowata with Pastor Wendell Abbott officiating. Interment will follow at Ball Cemetery in Childers. Family will be receiving friends from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M., Sunday, January 25, 2015 at Benjamin Funeral Service. Online condolences may be left at www.honoringmemories.com. Kellis Wayne Pierce, 63, passed away Thursday, January 22, 2015 at Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville. He was born October 12, 1951 in Nowata to Kellis M. and Iva Mae (Liston) Pierce. Kellis was a 1970 graduate of Delaware High School. He married Joyce Kaye Sellars on July 17, 1976. He was the fire chief in Delaware for over twenty years and a prior Nowata County Commissioner. Kellis owned Borneman Oil Co. in Nowata and also managed Ketchum Lumber Company in Delaware. He was known as a hard worker, working the oil fields and putting time in working the 1033 Ambulance for many years. Kellis enjoyed going to rodeos, team roping and when he was young, he rode bulls. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend and will be missed by all who knew him. Kellis is survived by his wife Joyce, of the home; three children, Pam Pearsall and husband Donnie of Pryor, OK., Chris Tole of Tulsa, Jason Pierce and wife Amanda of Delaware; a sister, Janice Hendrickson of Delaware; nine grandchildren, Zachary Pearsall, Brittany Pearsall, Josh Pearsall, Caleb Pearsall, Brycen Tole, Garrett Tole, Madison Tole, Connor Pierce, Kipton Pierce; two great-grandchildren, Abigail Pearsall, Zayden Pearsall. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kellis and Iva Pierce.
