Kenneth Wilbur Barchus, Grove resident, died Sunday afternoon in Grove at the age of 79 years. Ken was born on June 28, 1931 in Delaware County, Oklahoma to his parents, Burras and Ellen (Janes) Barchus. Ken served his country as a machine gunner in the US Marine Corps. Ken married the love of his life, Peggy Clark in Wichita, Kansas on August 28, 1951 and they celebrated 59 years of marriage. Ken loved boating, fishing, and spending time with his family. While living in Wichita Ken became a Mason and continued his journey after moving to Houston where he became a Shriner, Ken was a Masonic member for 57 years. Ken and Peggy lived in Houston for 50 years before moving to Grove in 2006. He is preceded in death by his parents, as well as his siblings. Ken leaves many loving memories with his wife, Peggy of the home; son, Clifford and wife Annie of Grove, OK, son, Kenneth and wife Barbara of Houston, TX; grandchildren, Chris Sams, Megan Barchus both of Houston, Tiffany Newsom and husband Steve of Nowata; great-grandchildren, Jaydon Salise, Madison Salise of Houston, TX, Christopher Newsom and Kennedy Newsom both of Nowata, OK. Memorial Services with Masonic Rites and Military Honors will be 10:00 AM Friday September 17, 2010 at the Worley Luginbuel Funeral Home.
