Online condolences may be left at www.honoringmemories.com. Kenneth Wayne Brooks, 83, passed away Friday, December 16, 2016 at St. Johns Hospital in Tulsa. He was born October 31, 1933 in Muskogee, Oklahoma to Carlton and Anna (Attebery) Brooks. Kenneth graduated for the University of Oklahoma with a Bachelor of Science degree. He was married to Janet Simpson. They made their home in New York from 1970 to 1990 where he was an editor for McGraw Hill Publishing. After retirement they moved back to Janet's hometown, Nowata, Oklahoma. Kenneth had a variety of interests in retirement and was active as an artist and musician. He was a prolific oil painter and exhibited his art at numerous shows winning several blue ribbon awards. He was an accomplished pianist playing monthly at the First Presbyterian Church and also playing keyboard in a German band performing throughout the Tulsa area. He was fluent in German and participated in local German linguistic groups. Kenneth was Treasurer at the First Presbyterian Church and was a member of the Nowata Library Board. Kenneth is survived by his son, Michael Brooks and his wife Anne of Simi Valley, California and a brother, Keith Brooks. He is preceded in death by his parents, Carlton and Anna Brooks and his wife, Janet Ann (Simpson) Brooks.
