Kenneth Dywane Cope, age 77, of Grove, Oklahoma, went home to Jesus on Saturday, January 5, 2019.
Kenneth was born in Eakly, Oklahoma on September 18, 1941. His parents, McKinley and Hazel (Thiessen) Cope, preceded him in death.
Kenneth dearly loved his family. Survivors include: his wife, Deena, of the home; one daughter Tonya Cope Law of Grove; one son, Kenton and wife Karen of Vinita; one step son, Toby Sturgell and wife Jamie; one step daughter, Buffy Fink and husband David all of Shell Knob, Missouri; eight grandchildren; Luke, Derrik, Marika, Jerid, Ricquel, Harley, Tray and Stasha; seven great-grandchildren; Seth, Ally, Tyler, Travis, Ayden, Sage and Xaiden; one brother, Bill Cope and wife Gertrude of Carnegie, Oklahoma; many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Kenneth grew up near Eakly, Oklahoma. He was saved and called to preach at the age of 14. In his 15th year, he preached 66 times, and was licensed at the age of 16. Kenneth became a Pastor at the age of 18 in Marietta, Oklahoma. He also was a Pastor in Carmen and Cache, Oklahoma. Kenneth came to Grove, July 1, 1967 as pastor of Lakeview Assembly of God. He remained there until July 3, 1994. He founded the Independent Assemblies House of Worship in Grove in July of 1994 with his wife, Deena.
Kenneth preached his final sermon, December 23, 2018; just 3 days before he went into the hospital.
Kenneth had many hobbies. He loved his dogs; bird dogs, beagles, coon hounds and fox hounds. He enjoyed deer hunting, fox hunting, coon hunting (more than one of hunting buddies ended up coming to church with him), fishing, knife collecting, playing guitar, singing, whittling, and drinking coffee with his friends and spoiling his grandchildren. Many knew him, and requested his services as the "Cowboy Preacher".
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6-8PM, Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home - Grove. Services are scheduled for 2PM, Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Chapel with Revered Jacob Berry and Reverend Menno Miller officiating. Kenneth will be laid to rest, Thursday, 2 PM, January 10, 2019 at Clio Cemetery in Barry County, Missouri with Brother Terry Bailie officiating.
