Kenneth Gorby Sr.

March 30, 1934 — July 27, 2013

Kenneth Earl Gorby, SR. passed away July 27, 2013 at the Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville. He was born March 30, 1934 in Peru, Kansas to Vivian Faye (Sanborn) and Glenn Eugene Gorby. Kenneth grew up in Peru, Kansas and received his education, there. He left high school to join the U.S. Navy and while home on leave, married Hilta Finney on May 6, 1954 at Caney, Kansas. Upon his honorable discharge in 1955, Kenneth and Hilta moved to Nowata, Oklahoma and have lived there since. Kenneth worked as a yard supervisor for Pierce Pipe & Supply for 44 years, retiring in 1996. He was a member of the Nowata First Church of God and the VFW. Kenneth is survived by his wife, Hilta, of the home; four children, Glenda Robb and husband Charles of Claremore, Linda Peak and husband Ed of Collinsville, Kenneth "Kenny" JR. and wife Diane of Collinsville, Kevin Gorby of Buckner, Missouri; an uncle, Doyle Gorby of Peru, Kansas, eleven grandchildren, and fifteen great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Vivian Gorby and a brother, Gerald Gorby. Funeral services for Kenneth are 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at the First Church of God with Pastor Wendell Abbott officiating. Interment will follow at Nowata Memorial Park Cemetery.
