Graveside services for Larry Charles Barnes are 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at Memorial Park Cemetery in Nowata with Pastor Rob Crawford officiating. Family will be receiving friends from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at Benjamin Funeral Service. Larry Charles Barnes, 71, passed away Thursday, July 27, 2017 at Creek Nation Community Hospital in Okemah, Oklahoma. He was born November 15, 1945 in Springfield, Missouri to William R. and Ossie (Fry) Barnes. He attended Coffeyville Schools. Larry joined the United States Navy and was discharged in December 4, 1962. He was married to Doris Trimble in Coffeyville, Ks. and was later married to Peggy Windle. He worked as a carpenter and painter in his younger years. He was a good cook and later cooked at the Ideal Restaurant in Nowata. He was talented at leatherwork and enjoyed making things for the family. He also enjoyed watching golf on TV and doing yard work. He was proud of the way his yard looked and worked hard to keep it nice. Not being able to be out much, he and Peggy spent hours watching the squirrels in their yard. He particularly loved and enjoyed his dog "Littleman". Larry loved his family and he will be missed by his family and friends. Larry is survived by his wife Peggy of the home; a son, Rodney Leroy Barnes of Owasso; a step-son, Paul Nichols and his wife Rosey; a step-daughter, Teri Highfill and her husband Michael; a sister, Linda Lillburn and her husband Jim; niece and nephew Terrie Standeford and her husband Butch,Tim Elledge and his wife Carol. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Ossie Barnes and a brother, Donald Ray Barnes, grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Tal Fry and Mr. & Mrs. Jake Barnes.
