Laura Marie (Casto) Rucker, 93 year old longtime Vinita resident, passed away on Friday, December 7, 2012 at Rosewood Terrace. She was born March 11, 1919 to Frank and Laura Mae (Hilderbrand) Casto in Vinita. They lived 8 miles north of Vinita, she attended school at Dixon until 8th grade when she came to Vinita and graduated in 1937. Marie was united in marriage to A. D. Rucker in September of 1941 in a double ceremony, in which A. D.'s cousin Virgil Lee Inman and Judy Knight were also married. In 1943 A. D. went into the United States Navy, they spent 14 months in Providence, Rhode Island where he was stationed. Later he was stationed in San Francisco, where he shipped out to Guam. While A. D. was in the Navy, Marie always found work where ever they were, while he was in Guam she worked in Tulsa. In 1946 they returned back to Craig County living in the White Oak area for about 8 years, then to where they made their home north of Vinita on Highway 2 for over 60 years. Marie and A. D. owned and operated P & R feed store for many years in Vinita, she also worked at Rich's Clothing Store, Herb & Pauline's Jewelry Store, and the Kid's Closet. Marie was a member of the First Church of God in Vinita, a 4-H volunteer for many years, a member of the Cowbells and the Home Demonstration Club. Marie was honored by the Vinita Chamber of Commerce as the most courteous employee. Marie was preceded in death by her husband A. D. Rucker in 2006, her parents, and a sister, Irene Rhinehart. The family includes; her two daughters and their husbands, Kathy Wood and husband Jeff of Vinita, Linda McAuliffe and husband Mike of Dewey; three grandchildren, Casey McAuliffe and wife Shondene, Laura Wood and Jenny Wood; one great-grandchild, Dalton McAuliffe. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, December 10, 2012 at the Luginbuel Funeral Home in Vinita. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Eddie Wrinkle officiating. Interment will follow at the Timpson Chapel Cemetery northwest of Vinita. Friends may give to the Vinita Ag Boosters C/O Misty Dick or the Craig County Rough Riders C/O of Janet Payne.
