Alma Bretz, 96-year-old Bartlesville resident, passed away Saturday, July 31, 2010 at her home. Mrs. Bretz was born October 12, 1913 in Barry County, Missouri the daughter of Samuel Montgomery and Anna Elizabeth Box. She attended schools in Bartlesville, graduating from Central High School in 1933. Mrs. Bretz was married to Carl A. Bretz on November 20, 1943 at the old First Presbyterian Church in Bartlesville. Mr. Bretz preceded her in death on February 20, 2010. Mrs. Bretz was very active in the community and was a charter member of the Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church. She was an assistant Girl Scout leader and for 15 years served as the Cookie and Calendar chairman for Bluestem Council. Mrs. Bretz was a volunteer with the Jane Phillips Medical Center for 50 years and was the 2002 volunteer of the year.. During her high school years she was a member of the National Honor Society and attended class reunions, even though just a few of her classmates could still attend. Mrs. Bretz is survived by one daughter, Carla Moon and her husband Dwayne of Stonewall, Oklahoma; by one son, Kenneth Bretz and his wife Cathy of League City, Texas; by 7 grandchildren; by 12 great-grandchildren; and by 1 great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband Carl A. Bretz; parents; and by 2 brothers, Orin and Lowell Montgomery.
