Leona Bertha White, 92 year-old former Vinita resident died Saturday, September 15, 2007 at the St. John's Medical Center in Owasso. She was born March 9, 1915 in Longdale-Blaine, Oklahoma to David William and Mary Katie (Greb) Weber. Leona was married to former Vinita Fire Chief George White on March 17, 1937 in Canton, Oklahoma. She retired from Eastern State Hospital in Vinita where she worked as a psychiatric aide and was a member of New Life Foursquare Gospel Church south of Vinita. The family includes: her children, Vernon White and wife Lillie of Owasso, Stanley White and wife Jeanne of Claremore, LaDonna Weaver and husband Wayman of Arlington, Texas; two sisters Martha Gundlach of Farmington, New Mexico, Arlene Kerby of Miami, one brother Leland Weber of Pryor, seven grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were, he husband George White on December 29, 2005, a brother, Harvey Weber, two sisters, Lenora Gundlach and Edna McKee. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, September 18, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at the New Life Foursquare Gospel Church southeast of Vinita, with Pastor Kevin Baker officiating.
