Leonard R. Ford, 63, resident of Vinita, OK passed away at Craig General Hospital on Wednesday, February 28, 2007. Leonard was born on June 10, 1943 to Everett Wallace Ford Sr. and Christine Louise (McDaniel) Ford. Mr. Ford was a veteran of the United States Army and United States Navy he was a member of the Big Red One division at Ft. Riley, KS. He married his wife Judy Monson on March 6, 1971 in Tulsa, OK. His family moved to the lake area in 1981 then on September 14, 1988 they moved on in to Vinita. He loved music, he played Guitar and Bass, he attended the Claremore Junior College and made sure he took the Country Music Program they offered at that time. Mr. Ford was proud of his Cherokee Indian Heritage and was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans. He enjoyed fishing on the river and deer hunting when he was able. Leonard was preceded in death by his parents Everett Wallace Sr. and Christine Louise Ford, two brothers Everett Wallace Ford Jr. and Emmett Charles Ford. Survivors include his wife Judy Ford of the home, his daughter who is a SGT for the Department of Corrections Kelli Crane and her husband Richard of Vinita, one sister Sharon Simmons of Langley along with many nieces' nephews, aunts, uncles and other relatives. Graveside services will be on Monday, March 5, 2007 at 2:00 PM. Services will be at the Fort Gibson National Cemetery under the direction of the Luginbuel Funeral Home in Vinita, OK.
