ARNOLD MOORE & NEEKAMP FUNERAL HOME, BARTLESVILLE, OK - Leota M. Amsey, age 101 and resident of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, passed away at her home on Tuesday, December 22, 2015. Leota Margie Satterfield was born on November 6, 1914 in rural Stroud, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of William S. and Mabel (Sumner) Satterfield. She attended rural Pleasant Hill School until she was transferred to the Davenport school system when she was in the fourth grade. She graduated from high school in 1932. After high school, she furthered her education by attending and graduating from the Chillicothe, Missouri Business College. She worked for a few years as secretary to the Lincoln County District Attorney until she joined the Oklahoma Natural Gas Company in Chandler, Oklahoma where she worked prior to her marriage. Leota and J. D. (Dee) Amsey were united in marriage on April 19, 1948 in Nowata, Oklahoma and they made their home in Bartlesville. Mr. Amsey preceded Leota in death in 1989 and she had continued her residence in Bartlesville since that time. Leota was a longtime member of the Bartlesville First Baptist Church. For many years, she volunteered at the old Washington County Memorial Hospital and the Jane Phillips Medical Center. She was also a member of the Cowbelles Association. Leota was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dee; a brother Brady Satterfield; a nephew, William J. Satterfield; sisters, Gladys Satterfield and Bernice Satterfield Blaney; sister-in-law, Marie Edgar; and nephew, Bill Blaney. She is survived by nieces, Patricia L. Miller, Betty Satterfield, Betty Lafoon, Janet Kay McCoy, Shirley Neil, Dana Bryant, Allecia Packwood and Joyce Wilburn; nephews, Floyd Douglas Satterfield, Dennis Satterfield, Donnie Satterfield, Scott Satterfield, Mike Miller, Bobbie Miller and Gene Miller. In lieu of flowers, Leota has suggested memorials be sent to Jane Phillips Medical Center, 3500 Frank Phillips Blvd., Bartlesville, OK 74006; or First Baptist Church, 405 S. Cherokee Ave., Bartlesville, OK 74003. Come and go visitation will be held on Monday from 9:00 AM-5:00 PM in the Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Home, 710 S. Dewey Ave.
