Leota Elliott

October 24, 1927 — October 25, 2012

Leota "Faye" Elliott, 85, longtime resident of Bartlesville, Oklahoma passed away October 25, 2012 in Edmond, Oklahoma. She was born October 24, 1927 in Big Cabin, Oklahoma to Lonzo Comer and Chloe (Maxwell) Comer. Her father, Lonzo, was a school teacher and principal for the 6th-8th grade school in Big Cabin. Her mother, Chloe, was a full-time homemaker, raising seven children. Faye had five older brothers and a sister, making her the youngest child. Faye was raised and received her education in Big Cabin. She was lucky enough to have her dad as a teacher. She tried hard not to be a teacher's pet, but she strived to be a good student for her dad. After she graduated from high school, she moved to Bartlesville to attend secretarial school. She worked as a secretary for Phillips Petroleum Company for 27 years, retiring in 1985. She was married and had two sons, Danny and Roger Hale. Faye later married Gene Elliott, whom she was reacquainted with at a high school reunion. They were blessed with 16 years together. They enjoyed traveling to many states, especially Colorado and Arizona. Faye was active in the Methodist church and later in the Baptist church. She loved to crochet and make quilts; and she enjoyed showing her beautiful work to others. She made a very special quilt, the "picture" quilt which is sewn together with actual pictures of her family. She also enjoyed baking pies, especially peach pies. Faye liked gospel music, such as the Gaithers and quartets. She was outgoing and liked staying busy going to Bible study, parties, activities and helping others. Faye is survived by: her two sons, Danny Hale and his wife, Sharon, of Edmond, Oklahoma and Roger Hale and his wife, Teri, of Bartlesville; her stepdaughter, Gail Whitaker of Colorado Springs, CO; four grandchildren: Stacy Sawyer of Cabot, Arkansas; Valerie Ginn of Edmond, Oklahoma; Angela Brown of Bristow, Oklahoma and Ryan Hale of New Orleans, Louisiana; 10 great grandchildren, Elizabeth "Hope" Vanorsdol, Jacob Vanorsdol, James Vanorsdol, Matthew Brown, Zachary Brown, Micha Brown, Andrew Sawyer, Reese Ginn, Paige Ginn and Mason Ginn. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Elliott; parents; siblings and granddaughter, Tiffani Vogan.
