Lewis Allen

Lewis Edward "Tom' Allen 82 year old lifetime Vinita resident went to be with his Lord and Savior at his home, Wednesday October 29, 2008. He was born January 18, 1926 in Vinita, Oklahoma to Clinton and Julia (Hardrick) Allen. Lewis convinced Opal Love (Bean) to marry him by giving her twenty dollars and a mule. Lewis and Opal were married on November 13, 1946 in Oswego, Kansas. Opal became his wife, friend, soul mate and mother of his ten children. He was retired from Eastern State Hospital and also worked for Firestone. Lewis was a member and Deacon of the United Missionary Baptist Church (formerly known as First Baptist Church) for many years. Lewis loved spending time with family and friends. Survivors include: His wife Opal (Bean) Allen of the home, three sons Tommy Allen & wife (Jennifer) of Caney, Kansas; Ronald Allen, Vinita; Vincent Allen & wife (Kim) Grand Haven, MI; four daughters; Janice Allen husband (John) Heathcock, Vinita; Jeri Lynn Allen-Powell & husband Kenneth, Bethany, OK; Lisa Allen-Daughtrey & husband Willie, Newport News, VA; Donna Allen, Vinita, OK. 32 Grandchildren, and 29 Great Grandchildren, two sisters; Wanda Martin, Kansas City, MO, Levita Allen of Wichita Falls, TX, one brother Clinton Allen Jr., of Vinita, numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives and a host of friends. Lewis was preceded in death by his parents, Clinton and Julia Allen, three sons; Isaac Allen, Gary Allen Sr., Clarence Allen Sr., five brothers, and three sisters.
