Lillian Lorean "Grannie" Driskill, 88, of Nowata, passed away Wednesday, April 24, 2014 at Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville. She was born February 19, 1926 in Delaware to William and Myrtle (Corbin) Lewis. Lorean grew up in Delaware and attended Delaware schools. Lorean was a part of the "Rosie the Riveter" generation, working for McDonnell-Douglas Aircraft in Tulsa, where she met her future husband. She married Harold T. Driskill on November 5, 1945 at Columbus, Kansas. The Driskills made their home in Delaware before moving to California in 1945. They would return to the home west of Delaware in 1947. The couple moved to Nowata in 1961 and began operating the Coin-o-matic Laundry. Lorean had many jobs over the years, but was known mostly for her many years as a caregiver in the community. She also owned/operated Ye Olde Herb Shoppe and was cosmetologist for the Skyline Nursing Home. After her husband passed away, Feb. 20, 1972, Lorean dedicated her life to caring for others. She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness. Lorean loved gardening and growing flowers and picking up pecans. Lorean is survived by two children, Linda Nordyke and Joe T. Driskill both of Nowata; seven grandchildren, Shelli Webb, Tom Blagg, Ken Blagg, April Frauenberger, Jodi Peck, Desira Mathes, Brent Driskill, a sister-in-law, Beverly Allen, seventeen great grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, several special nieces and nephews, other relatives, and many friends. Lorean is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son Howard "Bub" Driskill; five sisters, Mae Gibson, Serena Silver, Virginia Jackson, Georgia Page, Florence Wyant; two brothers, William B. Lewis and Carl "Tuff" Lewis.
