Lillian May Nichols, age 87, a Nowata longtime resident and Mother of Maggie Blevins, passed away Saturday morning, March 1, 2008 at Osage Nursing Home in Nowata. Lillian was born February 27, 1921 at Aberdeen, Washington to Harry and Cora (Crick) Cork. Lillian grew up in Washington State and received her education and attended Bible College There. She married Elmer Martin Nichols July 18, 1943 at Warm Beach, Washington and later moved to Nowata in 1945. She was an LPN and worked for Nowata General Hospital in Surgery, OB, ER and Central Supply retiring after 40 years. She was a member of New Life Assembly of God Church of Nowata, Ok. She is survived by two daughters, Maggie Blevins and her husband Ray of Nowata, Ok. and Dena Alexander and her husband Doug of Broken Arrow, Ok. Two daughters-in-law Margaret Mary Nichols of Independence, MO. And Kathi Nichols of Eureka, Mo. One sister Dorothy Jetton of Chehalis, Wa. Lillian also leaves 15 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. A special friend Mary Jeanette Wigger. Mrs. Nichols was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and two sons Norris Nichols, Allan Nichols, two sisters Margaret Hauck, Neysa Lange, three brothers Sanford Stuber, Melvin Rowe and Donald Rowe. A memorial has been established with the Jane Phillips Nowata Health Center or New Life Assembly of God Church of Nowata Building Fund or 10-33 Ambulance. and those who wish to contribute may do so in lieu of flowers. Funeral services for Mrs. Nichols will be held 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 5, 2008 in the Chapel of the Benjamin Funeral Home with Rev. Arlis Hennigar of the First Assembly of God Church officiating. Services are under the direction of the Benjamin Funeral Home. Online condolences may be left at www.honoringmemories.com.
