Memorial Services for Linda Lee Martin will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 30, 2012 at Benjamin Funeral Home with Richard Billings officiating. Online condolences may be left at www.honoringmemories.com Linda Lee Martin, 64, passed away Monday, March 26, 2012. She was born in Roanoke, Virginia, May 28, 1947 to Lillie Maude Boothe and Oscar Lee Martin, both deceased. She married Don Whitaker Bates and had three children: Randall Scott Bates, Chase City Virginia, Jessie Denise Thompson, Boydton, Virginia and Jacqueline Antinonette Waters, Jackson, Ohio. Linda moved to Kansas City, Kansas where she worked as a waitress. She met and married William Dale Martin. They were married June 19, 1986 at Stony Point South Christian Church. She also worked as a deputy sheriff at the Wyandotte County Jail booking desk for ten years. She retired in 1996, moving to Clarksville, Virginia to be closer to family and friends. Due to Dale's mother's health, they moved to Nowata, Oklahoma in the fall of 1999. After retiring, she lived a very private life with declining health issues that finally took her life. In her younger years, she was affiliated with the Church of God and she loved horses and horseback riding. She is survived by her brothers and sisters, Elizabeth Earlene Arms, Burkeville, Virginia, Joyce Ann Gavel of the home, James Lynwood Mills, Jr., Crewe, Virginia, Calvin Douglas Mills, Powhatan, Virginia, Catherine Wood George, Kansas City Kansas, eleven grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
