Benjamin Funeral Service - Linda Mae Vlahon, 70-year-old Owasso resident, passed away Friday, September 9, 2016 at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa. She was born December 28, 1945 in Nowata, Oklahoma to Frank Edward Demaree and Ruby Velma (Vaughan) Demaree Hamil. She graduated from Owasso High School and continued her education earning a Bachelor's Degree from Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, Kansas and a Master's Degree in South Carolina. Linda loved music and taught music for many years. She also loved taking pictures of flowers and was a member of the Tulsa Rose Garden and the Tulsa Botanical Gardens. Linda won several awards for some of the pictures she had taken. Linda was a very loving and caring person. She would help any person that was in need and was the female equivalent of Will Rogers. "She never met a person she didn't like". Linda cared not only for people but she loved helping animals and donated to the Tulsa SPCA. She and her longtime friend Quinton Weeks enjoyed attending the Arts and shows at the Tulsa PAC and were season ticket holders at one time. Linda was a living Guardian Angel and will be missed by all who knew her. Preceding Linda Vlahon in death are her father, Frank Edward Demaree; her mother, Ruby Velma Hamil; and her step-father, Robert Hamil. Survivors include her longtime friend and companion, Quinton Weeks of the home in Owasso; a brother Robert Demaree and wife Terry, of Bartlesville; step-daughters Maria and Penny Vlahon; step-grandchildren, Ashley Walters and Sarah Elgin; many other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral Services for Linda Vlahon will be held Tuesday, 2:00 p.m., at Benjamin Funeral Service Chapel in Nowata, Oklahoma, with Pastor Wendell Abbott officiating. Burial will follow at Nowata Memorial Park Cemetery. Family will be present at the funeral home for a visitation on Monday, September 12, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Services are entrusted to Benjamin Funeral Service of Nowata.
