Lisa Jean Brady, 56 year old Norman resident and former Vinita resident, passed away Tuesday, August 14, 2018. Lisa was born in Welch, OK on November 1, 1961 to Ray and Wilma (Trantham) Brady.
She was a 1979 graduate of Welch High School, then went on to receive her Bachelors in Education from the University of Oklahoma in 1987. Lisa then began teaching freshman orientation and life skills at Oklahoma City University while completing her Masters in Performing Arts, which she completed in 1994. After her graduation she became the Advocacy Director for the American Cancer Society. During her tenure at the American Cancer Society she was successful in campaigning for Oklahoma to put a law in place to prevent public smoking. After her successful leadership at the American Cancer Society she needed to spend more time with her family and became the Connection Director at New Life Bible Church in Norman.
Lisa had many passions in life but none more important than her family. She loved to ride horses in her younger years and even owned and trained the National AHSA Dressage Champion Horse "Spanky". She was very spiritual spending times at various churches through the years. She also had a love for her two dogs Jordo and Snuggles who she can now join in heaven.
Survivors include her son Dustin Layton and wife Amanda of Edmond grandchildren: Gavin Layton, Gunner Layton, and Leo Husky, and brother Michael Ray Brady of Vinita. She was preceded in death by her parents, son Samuel Brady Husky, sister Teresa Hilderbrand Uzzle and brother Randy Eugene Brady.
Memorial services will be 10 a.m., Thursday, August 23, 2018 at the Luginbuel Funeral Chapel. Services are under the direction of Luginbuel Funeral Home. Online condolences may be made at www.honoringmemories.com or on the Luginbuel Facebook page.
