Lisa Cooper

February 7, 1964 — January 26, 2016

ARNOLD MOORE & NEEKAMP FUNERAL HOME, BARTLESVILLE, OKLAHOMA - Lisa Jo Cooper, age 51 and lifelong resident of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, passed away in Jane Phillips Medical Center on Tuesday, January 26, 2016, surrounded by her loving family. Lisa was born on February 17, 1964 in Bartlesville. She was the daughter of Bennie Lee Cooper and Barbara (Herrington) Cooper Lane. In her early years, Lisa attended Bell Ringers School and was a graduate of the special education program of Bartlesville in 1986. She was active in Girl Scouts. She later attended activities at The Boys and Girls Club. At the age of 18, Lisa became a resident of ARC, one of the first five special needs group homes in Oklahoma that was opened in November of 1982 here in Bartlesville. Lisa loved participating in the Special Olympics here in Bartlesville and qualified to compete at the state level most years. She was quite a bowler and softball thrower. She accumulated a rather large collection of medals and ribbons and was more than happy to display them to anyone who asked. Lisa enjoyed working each day wherever she was needed at Employability. Her listening skills and ability to follow instructions made every task a joy. She also loved participating in art projects. She was quite the "artist" and always took great pride in her work. She loved to go…anywhere, anytime. Cruises, local Broadway shows, and trips to Branson were favorites. She loved to attend church and Sunday school. She loved to eat, always inquiring what was on the menu for the next meal and the one after that. No one in the family loved going to Sunset and Grand Lakes more than Lisa. Fireworks shows brought unending screams and shouts of joy from Lisa with every boom. She loved to sing loudly in her own key but knew the words. She loved to dance every dance. Lisa enjoyed life, never met a stranger, and loved everybody. All who knew her loved her. Her passing leaves a void that no one will be able to fill. Lisa is survived by her mother, Barbara Cooper Lane and her step-father, Bill Lane, of the family home; sister, Renee Ann Ebert and her husband, Mark, of Stillwater; brother, Lee Brett Cooper and his wife Gay of Bartlesville; step-sister, Angie Carpenter and her husband, Carl, of Corinth, Texas; nieces and nephews, Jason Ebert, Rachel Leslie and her husband Chris, Justin Ebert and his wife Debbie, Ashley Cooper Massara and her husband Michael, and Branden Cooper. She was preceded in death by her father, Bennie Lee Cooper, and her grandparents, Harold and Georgia Herrington, and Earnest (Bud) and Nora Cooper. The family would like to thank all of the friends that helped ease the pain as Lisa ended her earthly journey. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to ARC Group Homes, Inc., 616 E. 4th St., Bartlesville, OK 74003 or to EmployAbility , 501 S.W. Virginia, Bartlesville, OK 74003. Come and go visitation will be held on Friday from 1:00 -5:00 PM; Saturday from 9:00 AM-6:00 PM; and Sunday from 1:00-6:00 PM in the Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Home, 710 S. Dewey Ave.
