Lloyd Prater, age 71, died on Saturday October 22, 2011 at Integris Grove General Hospital. Lloyd was the son of Fred and Margaret (Cawood) Prater; he was born on February 16, 1940 in Grove, Oklahoma. He served in the Oklahoma National Guard. Lloyd was a lifetime resident of the area, he worked on the line for Simmons Industries in Jay. Lloyd enjoyed planting his gardens, fishing, hunting, reading, doing crossword puzzles, watching westerns, and spending time with his family. Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Cecil, Earl, Doyle and Ronnie Prater; three sisters, Bessie Gooding, Nadine Blevins and Rita Hodges. Lloyd is survived by his wife Donna (McGhee) Prater of the home; one son Wesley Prater and his wife Janet; three daughters, Vickie Prater, Peggy Denayer and her husband Ryan and Sheila Hignite; Lloyd has one surviving sister, Maxine Blaha. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 25, 2011. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 26, 2011 both at the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel in Grove, Oklahoma. Lloyd will be laid to rest immediately following at the Olympus North Cemetery. Ryan Denayer, Don McGhee, Jim Bob McGhee, Nathan Denayer, Mark Martineau and Jesse Drabenstott will honor Lloyd by serving as casket bearers.
