Lois Browning, 96 year-old Cleora resident, passed away at her home on Tuesday. She was born April 4, 1913 in Tuxedo, Texas to Flake and Dorthula Loretta "Etta" (Floyd) Williams. After high school Lois got her beauticians license, before her marriage to Charles Woodrow Browning on December 24, 1939 in Iradell, Texas. Charles preceded her in death on May 2, 2003. They made their home in Tulsa for many years, where they were active in the Tulsa Central Nazarene Church. Lois was a leader in the NWMS for 12 Chapters, done the Children's Church and taught Sunday School. She and Charles moved to the Browning's home place near Cleora about 20 years ago. Lois was a member of the Nazarene Church of Vinita. She enjoyed her garden and picking pecans, but mostly being with her family and her Australian Shepherd Speckles. The family includes: a daughter Sandra Fitzgerald and husband David of Tahlequah, a son Charles H. "Chuck" Browning of Cleora; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. Also preceding her in death, were her parents, and ten siblings. The Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Luginbuel Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held Monday March 1, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the Luginbuel Chapel with Pastor David Stevens officiating. Interment will follow at the McLaughlin Cemetery near Cleora.
