Funeral services for Lois Janieve Duncan will be held at 1:00 pm, Tuesday, October 4, 2011, at Benjamin Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Duncan officiating. Burial will follow at Martin Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Benjamin Funeral Home of Nowata. Lois Janieve Duncan was born February 29, 1936, to Alfred and Maggie Jewel (Howe) Ames, in Wimer, Oklahoma. She passed from this life September 30, 2011 at the Oak Hill Care Center in Jones, Oklahoma. She graduated from Lenapah High School in 1955 and on June 6, 1964 Lois married Jimmie Lee Duncan in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Mrs. Duncan worked as a caregiver in several day care and nursing homes. She loved helping others and spent her life caring for people. Her hobbies included crocheting, sewing and walking. She enjoyed singing and was known for playing an accordion. She loved her family and will be missed by all. Preceding Mrs. Duncan in death are her parents, Alfred and Maggie Ames, her husband, Jimmie Lee Duncan, and two brothers, Tom, and Vernon Ames. Survivors include, two daughters, Joetta Truelove, and her husband Ron, of Edmond, Oklahoma, Brenda Banks and her husband Shawn, of Oklahoma City, two grandsons, Terry Shawn Banks Jr., and Noble Banks, three sisters, Betty Lawrence, and husband Bill, of Nowata, Edith Chesney, of Claremore, Oklahoma, Reva Vaughn, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and one brother, Paul Ames, and wife Rita, of South Coffeyville, Oklahoma.
