Lois Martin

Lois Bea Martin, 87 year old resident of Grand Lake, died Thursday evening February 9, 2012. She was born October 3, 1924 in Ringgold County, Iowa to Jacob Lee and Bessie (Sefrit) Lepley. After graduating high school in Clearfield, Iowa, then cosmetology school, Lois went to New York and worked for Roux Beauty Products. She would go to different beauty schools and demonstrate techniques to use the Roux Products. While doing this she met the love of her life Lindley O. Martin, they united in marriage on December 15, 1957 in Bentonville, Arkansas. Together they owned and operated the State Beauty Supply Company in Enid for many years, before retiring in 1981 and turning the business over to their son and daughter in-law. They moved to Grand Lake near Ketchum in 1981, Lindley preceded her in death in March of 2000. Lois loved reading and had created her own library; she also was a huge Oklahoma Sooner sports fan. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Lindley in 2000, a brother Bill Lepley and a brother in-law, Chuck Martin. The family includes: her son William L. "Bill" Martin and wife Sherrie of Grand Lake; grandchildren, William L. Martin, Jr. and wife Jodie of Oklahoma City, Cerise Marie Martin of Chickasha; great-grandson Jace W. Martin; sister Bette L. Frakes of Owasso and sister in-law Darlene Martin of Champagne, Illinois. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the Luginbuel Chapel in Vinita, Pastor Richard McCool will officiate. Interment will follow at the Ketchum Cemetery, Ketchum, Oklahoma. Friends may give to the Alzheimer's Association or the Cancer Society. Online Condolences may be made at www.honoringmemories.com.
