Lois A. Polly, 85 year-old Vinita resident, died Saturday, October 13, 2007 in Vinita. She was born April 17, 1922 in Craig County to Merritt Simone Rice and Mary Elizabeth (Roetker) Rice. Lois was a graduate of Northeastern A & M College in Miami. She married Drew Polly on October 21, 1947 in Pueblo, Colorado; he preceded her in death on September 10, 1996. She was an executive secretary, working for the United States Government on the Manhattan Project in Richland, Washington after college, and then was with the Department of Human Services. Lois was a member of the Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Vinita. The surviving family includes; four sisters in-law, Roberta Rice of Welch, Norma Rice of Vinita, Geneva Polly of Muskogee and Helen Polly of Columbia, Missouri, a life long friend Florence Jean (Chamberlain) Foster of Tulsa, several nieces, nephews and three step-grandchildren and two great-grandchildren and other relatives. Others preceding her in death include, her parents, four brothers, John, Bob, Bill and Tom Rice, a step-son, Don Polly. The Rosary will be held, Tuesday evening October 16, 2007 at 6:00 p.m. at the Luginbuel Chapel. The Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, October 17, 2007 at 11:00 p.m. at the Holy Ghost Catholic Church with Father Alex Kennedy officiating.
