Lorna Dean Millikan, eighty nine year old resident of the Pensacola - Langley area died Friday September 17, 2010 at her home near Langley. She was born in a country home near Pensacola the daughter of Willie Clarence Schubert and Rosa Alberta Lawson Schubert. She began her education at Spavinaw then Pensacola and Ketchum where she graduated High School and had met Dwight Millikan, they were married on May 6, 1941. She always wanted to become a beauty operator so the took an apprenticeship in Vinita for one year to earn her operators license, she kept her license up to date the rest of her life. She attended Northeastern State at Tahlequah and graduated after three years with a degree in home economics and elementary education. Lorna's teaching career began at Longview School then Military which is now Otterbein, Adair Schools, then went to Hugo, CO, then moving to Simi Valley, CA, also taught in New York for three years. They moved to Bartlesville where she taught fifth grade ant Ramona then moved back home to the farm and taught at Adair until she retired. They enjoyed traveling, cooking, vacationing, quilting, sewing, painting, gardening, flowers and raising and putting up her vegetables. Lorna leaves behind two children, Rosemary Millikan of Vinita, OK and Douglas and Glenda Millikan of Springfield, MO, a sister Wilda June Adams and husband Boyd of Vinita, OK, five grandchildren, Brandon and Haley Millikan of Vinita, OK, Christy and Raymond Russell of Ponca City, OK, Lori and Todd Richmond of Lowell IN, Brian Klingensmith of Osawatomie, KS and Heather Hankins of West Plains, MO, she also has seventeen great grandchildren. Her husband, Dwight in June of 2003, her parents, one sister, Cleta Verner, and a brother, Buddy Clinton, preceded her in death. Funeral services for Mrs. Millikan will be Thursday September 23, 2010 at 10:00 a, m. at Otterbein United Methodist Church with Rev. Jim Bradford officiating with interment to follow in Ghormley Cemetery under the direction Luginbuel Funeral Home. Visitation will be Wednesday September 22, 2010 at Luginbuel South Grand Lake Funeral Home at Langley form 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. The family requests memorials be made in Lorna's name to the Otterbein United Methodist Church, building fund, 36259 S. 4430 Rd.
