Lottie May (Tullis) Apperson, 91 year-old Welch resident, died Wednesday, December 19, 2007 at the Craig General Hospital in Vinita. Lottie was born September 2, 1916 in Carthage, Missouri to Frank A. and Margaret (McLean) Tullis. She graduated in 1934 from Altamont High School in Altamont, Kansas. After high school she attended Pittsburg State's Teachers College, and taught at rural schools around Bartlett, Kansas for a time. On April 24, 1938 in Miami, Oklahoma She married Loyd C. Apperson, He preceded her in death on March 27, 1984. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Welch and formerly belonged to the Plateau Home Demonstration Club. The family includes: her two daughters, Joyce George and husband Rick of Tulsa, Maureen Apperson of Vinita, a son Robert Wayne Apperson, Sr. and wife Jane of Welch, a sister Jean Chestnutt of Chetopa, three grandchildren, Angela Koscelny of O'Fallon, Missouri, Robert Wayne Apperson, Jr. of Welch, and Mark George of Wichita, Kansas. Those preceding her in death include her husband, her parents, and a brother George Tullis. Casket bearers will be; Bill Tallman, Bobby Apperson, Larry Layton, Gary Layton, Jeff Koscelny, and Mark George. Honorary bearers will be W. J. Layton and Jimmy Apperson. The funeral for Lottie May Apperson will be held Saturday, December 22, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Welch, with Reverend Bob Whitchurch officiating. Interment will follow at the Lake Creek Cemetery near Bartlett, Kansas. Arrangements are by the Luginbuel Funeral Home of Vinita.
