Lucille Theresa Galvin, 97 year-old Vinita resident, passed away peacefully at her home of Monday afternoon, April 7, 2008 at her home, surrounded by all her children. She was born June 20, 1910 in St. Charles, Missouri to Peter and Dora (Obershon) Tayon. Lucille was married to Walter "Jim" Galvin in St. Charles at St. Peter's Church on December 3, 1928m, he preceded her in death in 1983. Lucille will always be remembered as a gentle, strong, loving woman, devoted to her family and to her church. Her gracious spirit always made everyone feel welcome in her presence. She was a member of the Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Vinita. The family includes; her children, Jean Cass of Vinita, Sister Bernie Galvin, CDP of San Francisco, Doris Simmons of Arkansas City, Kansas, Mike and wife Johnetta Galvin of Vinita, Helen and husband Louis Minson of Vinita, Pete and wife Ouida Galvin of Catoosa, Sharon Lechlider of Vinita, Tim Galvin of Vinita, Frances and husband Delbert Teal of Verdigris, Ethel McDorman of Tulsa, and Mary Rains of Vinita; and 127 grand, great- and great-great-grandchildren. Lucille was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Walter J. Galvin, children, Pat Galvin, Agnes Forbis, and Kathy Briscoe Taylor; grandchild Pauline Barnes, great grandchildren, Lewis Michael Cass, Bill Simmons, Timothy Galvin, Rachael White and Rachael Watson. The Vigil Service will be held Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, 10:30 a.m. at the Holy Ghost Catholic Church with Father Alex Kennedy officiating. Interment will follow at the Fairview Cemetery in Vinita.
