Lula Allen

Lula "Viola Allen, 92-year-old South Coffeyville resident, passed away Monday, December 14, 2009 at the Coffeyville Regional Medical Center in Coffeyville. Mrs. Allen was born March 2, 1917 in Norborne, Missouri to Elmer Donaldson and Lula Bowman-Donaldson. On June 1, 1947, she married Delmar Allen. The two resided in Riverside, California for many years where Mrs. Allen worked at Kress Department Store. She worked her way up into management before the two later came to Oklahoma. Mrs. Allen was a member of the Church of Christ in Nowata and a past member of the Garden Club. She loved tending to her flowers and working on the farm. Mrs. Allen was an excellent cook as many will miss her homemade rolls and pies. She will be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother that set a perfect example of strong family values, hard work, and dedication. Mrs. Allen is survived by her husband of 62 years, Delmar Allen of rural South Coffeyville; by two daughters, Sharon and her husband Steve Brown of rural South Coffeyville and Dona and her husband Ernie Cooper of Guymon; by one sister, Katheryn Wiggins of Guymon; by two grandchildren, Blake and his wife Sandra Brown of South Coffeyville and Chad Brown of South Coffeyville; by two great-grandchildren, Kylea Brown and Shelby Brown both of South Coffeyville; and by a nephew, Larry Wiggins and his wife Jan and their daughter Katie of Guymon. Funeral services for Mrs. Allen will be held at 2:00p.m., Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at the Benjamin Funeral Home Chapel with Clint Howard officiating. The family has asked that those wishing to leave memorial contributions in memory of Mrs. Allen, remember the Herald of Truth, P.O. Box 2439, Abilene, TX 79604.
