Graveside funeral services for Lula Rose Taylor will be held 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 30, 2011, at Memorial Park Cemetery, Nowata, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of Benjamin Funeral Service of Nowata. Lula Rose Taylor, 79, of Nowata passed from this life Friday, November 25, 2011, at Hillcrest Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was born January 17, 1932, in Nowata to Albert and Sadie (Parrish) Young. She attended Nowata schools. On August 10, 1962 she married Carl Taylor in Bentonville, Arkansas. They made their home in Nowata and she attended the West Side Church of God. She and Carl loved to rodeo and had a band called Carl Taylor and the Western Rockers. Lula Rose loved singing and playing in the band. She could play many instruments and was able to pick up any musical instrument and in a short time play it. They loved to dance and have a great time with friends. She loved animals and once rescued a horse that she kept for over 20 years. She loved that horse and the horse would only let her ride and take care of it. Lula Rose also raised canaries and Chihuahuas. She also liked to cook and sew and won several blue ribbons at the county fair. She worked in her flower gardens and loved flowers. She was also a very outgoing lady that loved people and in her later years loved shopping. She will be missed by all who knew her. Preceding Mrs. Taylor in death are her parents, Albert and Sadie Young, and her husband Carl Taylor. Survivors include her daughter Elizabeth (Libby) Woods, and husband Shawn, of Nowata, close friends, R.J. and Debra Wren, their children, Corbin and Brady, LaVna Nolte, Judy Swafford, many other relatives and a host of other friends.
