Lyle L. (Spike) Sutton, 88, passed away Friday, October24, 2008 at Grove Nursing Center where he had been a resident. Lyle was born April 8, 1920 to Marshall and Jennette (Faucher) Sutton at Clark, South Dakota. He married Cherokee Christie in Savannah, Georgia. She preceded him in death in 2003. He was also preceded by one brother Lee Sutton and one sister Maxine Henshall. He was a member of the Cowboys Turtle Association and later Rodeo Cowboys Association and was a former saddle bronc rider and steer wrestler. He owned and operated his own trucking company for a number of years. He is survived by: three children and their spouses, George and Janet Sutton, Vinita, Oklahoma, Nettie and husband Tom Detherage, Fairland,, Oklahoma, Lydia and husband Bob Coleman, Parker, Colorado; three grandsons and their spouses, Lance and Cheri Sutton, Beaver, Oklahoma, Nick and Jamie Sutton, Vinita, Oklahoma, Matt and Chanista Detherage, Sapulpa, Oklahoma, one granddaughter Christie and Fred Jackson, Grove Oklahoma; five great grandsons and six great granddaughters. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Monday October 27, 2008 at Luginbuel Funeral Chapel in Vinita with Pastor Wade Markham officiating. Interment will follow at Spavinaw-Strang Cemetery.
