M. Oneita Matthews, 90 year old resident of Tigard, Oregon, passed away on January 15, 2015 in Tigard. She was born on October 1, 1924 in Locust Grove, Oklahoma to David R. and Delia (Clarke) Matthews. After graduating from Welch High School, she moved to Madison, Tennessee at the age of 17. Oneita lived and worked in Madison until moving to California and worked in a ship yard. She retired in 1989 from the Rocky Mountain Conference of the Seventh Day Adventists. The church was the utmost important to her. One of her mission projects was making pretty baby blankets, for the new born babies, sending them by the box full to different places to help the children. In 2011 she left Vinita, to fulfill her lifelong dream and move near the Buller family in Oregon. The family includes: one sister Elizabeth Tate of Vinita, and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Robert Earle Matthews, sisters, Myrtle Lee Rodman and Alice Vyvian Cloud. The memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at 3:00 PM in the Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Frank Molina officiating.
