Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Jay, Oklahoma 918-253-3222. Mabel Hawkins, 94 year old life time resident of Jay, Oklahoma, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, June 22, 2018 in the Grove Nursing Center. Mabel was born on March 9, 1924 in rural Delaware County. She was the daughter of Walter and Maudie (Pogue) Carey. She was united in marriage to L.E. Hawkins on March 20, 1941 in Bentonville, Arkansas. Mabel was an amazing cook; she cooked for the Lindberg School, which is now the Plainview Missionary Baptist Church located east of Jay. L. E. and Mablel operated a dairy farm for many years. She enjoyed working in the garden, and taking care of her eight children. Mabel was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her daughter Barbara Chopper, and nine siblings. She is survived by seven children; Carolene West of Gentry, Arkansas, Wanda Burnett (David) of Jay, Jean Key (John) of Jay, Cathy Hughes of Jay, Ireliene Wright (Ace) of Grove, Reba Blackmore (Kim) of Grove and Sandra Hawkins of Grove. Mabel was blessed with 18 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren,12 great great grandchildren and a host of other loving relatives and friends. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, June 24, 2018 from 2-4 PM, Services will be held at 2:00 pm, Monday, June 25, 2018 both at the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel in Jay, Oklahoma.
