M. Maxine Morrison, age 89, passed away on May 6, 2015 in The Journey Home Hospice, Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Mabel "Maxine" Morrison was born on July 12, 1925 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Arthur O. Buck and Mabel E. (Russell) Buck. She spent her early life in the Tulsa area where she attended school, graduating from Central High School in 1943. She continued her education in music at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, OK and later at Tulsa University. She was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority while in college and later sang professionally during the "Big Band Era". On February 28, 1948, Maxine and Guy White Morrison, Jr. were united in marriage in Tulsa, Oklahoma. They made their home in Bartlesville where Mr. Morrison was first employed by the Bell Telephone Company and then, in 1950, by Phillips Petroleum Company. Two children were born to Maxine and Guy, Gerald Lynn and Sammye Lea. After 56+ years of marriage, Mr. Morrison preceded Maxine in death in 2004. She has, since then, continued her residency in Bartlesville. Maxine was a loyal wife, mother and homemaker, as well as being a strong contributor in her church. She and Guy were two of the original members of the Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church in Bartlesville founded in 1955. In earlier years, she was always involved with local civic groups, such as Meals on Wheels and the Garden Club. Maxine was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Louise Dyer; her husband, Guy; and granddaughter, Anisa Lee Gamble. She is survived by her son, Gerald Lynn "Jerry" Morrison and his wife, Dianne, of Kansas City, Missouri; her daughter, Sammye Lea (Morrison) Garner and her husband, Jay, of Sachse, Texas; two grandsons, Thomas Lynn Morrison, of Kansas City, Missouri; Cody Jordan Gamble of Las Vegas, Nevada; and two great-grandsons, Noah and Isaiah Gamble of Las Vegas, Nevada.
