Mack D Coker 92, of Monkey Island formally of Nowata went to his heavenly home on April 29, 2009. Mack was born on December 05, 1916 to Arthur Lee and Addie Elzora (Turner) Coker in Coody's Bluff, Oklahoma. After his school years, Mack worked at a grocery store in Delaware, Oklahoma. He then moved to Bartlesville where he learned the trade of being a butcher. Mack married Wanda Mae "Wendy" Childers on November 12, 1939 in Dewey, Oklahoma. After the war started they moved to Parsons, Kansas where Mack worked in the munitions factory. Mack and Wendy moved to Nowata where he owned and operated the Dairy Queen in the summertime and worked as a butcher in the winter. In 1952 he began working for Sinclair Oil Company until his retirement in 1970 when he moved to Monkey Island, Oklahoma. Mack was a member of the Lake Center Baptist Church. He enjoyed spending time with his church family and camping buddies. Mack loved to go hunting, fishing, and arrowhead hunting. Earlier this year he moved in with his daughter Lynn and son in law Bill in Edmond, Oklahoma. Mack is survived by his 2 daughters Pauline Colvin and her husband Larry of Ralston, and Lynn Walker and her husband Bill of Edmond, 5 grandsons Tony Colvin and his wife Katharine of Tulsa, Eric Colvin of Ralston, Ben Colvin and his wife Missy of Ponca City, Buddy Mack Colvin of Ponca City and Greg Walker of Dallas, 1 granddaughter Cindy Armstrong and her husband Kelly of Edmond, 1 sister Francis Stookey of Nowata and 1 brother Don Coker of Belen, New Mexico, numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family members. Mack left behind many friends that will deeply miss him. He was preceded in death by his wife Wendy Coker, his parents Arthur and Addie Coker, 4 brothers Elvin Coker, Jim Coker, Clomer Coker, and Doug Coker, and 3 sisters Floy Coker, Susie Chappel, and Flora Dodson. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, May 04, 2009 at the Lake Center Baptist Church on Monkey Island, Oklahoma with Pastor Kim Hayes officiating. A private interment will follow in the Rolston Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Benjamin Funeral Service in Nowata, Oklahoma.
